Making an Updated version to my app
« on: May 10, 2012, 05:42:14 pm »
I need to update my app, but it's been awhile so I can't remember what to do.

I've been to the http://www.dragonfiresdk.net/CertificateRequest.asp but where is my "Serial" number I need to submit?

Also, how do you update the App through Apple, and not create a new app?

Thanks for any help

Johnno,

You only need a new certificate if the current one is expired or if it's expiring soon.  If it's good for the next month or longer, you don't need to worry about revoking the old one / creating a new one.

The serial number is your DragonFireSDK serial number.  It's the same one used to log in to the Build Center.  You would have received this at your registered e-mail address at the time you purchased DragonFireSDK.

App updates for DragonFireSDK are the same as a new App Store submission.  In order to create a new version for your app, you'll need o log in to iTunes Connect and navigate to "Manage my Applications" and select the app to be updated.  There, you should see a button labelled "Add Version" where you can specify what's in your app update and make any changes to other metadata (version number, etc.)

I hope this helps!

On this note Tim, if you have saved data in the local documents folder, will this be wiped when you release an update of an app? I only ask because I was curious about how you save previous game levels and ensure that you can replicate this in the new versioned app?

If the user downloads an update to your app, the Documents folder will be unaffected.  If the user decided to delete the app, then Documents will be deleted as well...
