Boc2d or not?

Hello everyone!

i was just wondering.. i wanted to try and make a game like Maple Story (a 2d side scrolling game) but not online one. just singleplayer..

do u think it's nessecary to use box2d or not?

Tell me what u think is best :)

I wanted a projectile flying across my screen. I spent all day incorporating horrible physics equations into a getxy and setxy with ontimer() sort of approach and the best I could achieve was a rather odd looking non-parabolic curve that didn't look realistic.
using box 2d, one line of code gives me what I wanted and looks 100x better.

Sure, you could certainly make a side scroller / platformer type game with Box2D.
