So what are the maximum numbers of views and Text?
« on: September 03, 2012, 03:49:51 pm »
Setting up a large array of data, the app is producing these errors (yes, all in AppMain):

TextAdd - Maximum number of Text exceeded
ViewAdd - Maximum number of views exceeded

I can't find an official (or even unofficial) reference to the actual maximums.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

If my memory serves me well, it's a 1000 which is the absolute maximum. Remember that a text add is also considered a view!

Texts - limit of 1000
Views - limit of 2000

I would ask, why do you need more than 1000 texts or 2000 views?  You can't reasonably fit that many of each on the screen at once, so why not create the objects you actually need and set what's in each one as needed?

I have 1000 words stored in a database that the user needs to be able to walk through, and there's not really an easy way to walk through a recordset in the DragonFireSDK utilization of SQLite, so I load them into an array.  In one part of my app they are displayed on a stack of 30 words per card.

So, it sounds like you only need 30 texts at any given time?

SQLite doesn't have a "recordset" object, so loading values into an array sounds like a good solution.

It seems like when you display each "card" that you could grab the next set of 30 values from the array and use TextSetText() to update the existing labels, no?
