On-line catalog
« on: April 21, 2012, 12:36:27 pm »
Hi all !

I'm interested on buying DF-SDK as they're starting to ask me to develop applications for iPad. A customer of mine needs an app to show his catalog from an on-line database. I need to get (and show) from an on-line DB, photos and text statements. Reading the docs, I've found the NetSend command that should be ablet to do what I need... but is possibile to get images ??? From what I understand, I would get bytes (of the images) ina buffer and I should save the buffer to disk and then load the image ? Is there a better solution ?

Besides, is it true we can load images in PNG format ??? No .JPG ??? May I ask why ?

Thanks in advance for any hints and help on this ! I need a tool to start with iOS and I'm still thinking of what could be the best for my needs.

It's quite possible to do this with DFSDK. The only trick is you'll need an online server to host the DB and the images and various text descriptions. What you can do then is write an app that connects to the server using the NetSend() function, this performs a http GET process, so it only retrieves information from a http web page. You can then write an app that will translate and display the information into your app depending on how you decide on the layout and the method of displaying data, e.g. text + images
