Store players x and y-coordinates in real time - Multiplayer

Which of the way's down below do you prefer best to store the players (1000-1000000 players) positions with in real time and

why: Using a MySQL database or a flat file to store players positions every [0;1,5] second's ?

- Do you know any better ways to store the players positions in realtime, but it * should * work with the current DragonFireSdk

release ( to avoid any useless answers like:  'socket'  as dfsk dont support it yet ).
