Marketing an App
« on: August 03, 2012, 05:22:14 am »
So in all the excitement of making my first App, I forgot to come up with a marketing strategy, and it's kind of showing!  Now I don't claim that my App is particularly ground breaking and deserves 1000s of downloads, but having done quite a bit of reading these last few days, it seems that independent devlopers are lost in a sea of apps that won't ever be found, let alone considered for purchase.  Exposure is one of the key elements and it struck me that this forum community represents quite a powerful base from which to market an app.  Would our collective efforts for Apps produced through dragonfire help one and all? e.g. could we set up a FB group/twitter a/c, send out to bloggers, review sites etc/plus the all important app reviews (unconditional 5 stars from 300 dragonfire users would be nice!)...something to get that "buzz" going.
I think as one group we could be quite powerful, but I'm not entirely sure how we could best coordinate it. Any thoughts on the issue most welcome.
Oh, and please take a look at my app!

I believe we can properly market our apps if we DO get a larger base but I think we should spread this through our real life friends and this community first and a facebook page/group would be a must!

Hi guys,
I'm trying to marketing my app without spending money, but it's not simple.
The best way to do it in my opinion is to be reviewed by iPhone apps that suggest you everyday a new free app. I did it with my app in my country: Italy and I did more than 15k downloads in one day!! without this strategy I only made 1k downloads in 7 months.... So I may think we can link our knowledges about marketing each other, what do you think?
sorry for my uncorrect english
;)

Well done pipizanzibar, that's a good number of downloads!
Nothing is done yet, just waiting for a bit more enthusiasm for it. What's this "iphone Apps" that reviewed your app?

Hey Pipi I have a question for you, I was just looking at the iphone app review site and was wondering if you paid for your review to have it extridited? I'm not sure this is the same site you used http://www.theiphoneappreview.com/submit-your-app/. They claim to have a 9 month backlog for review and can't even guarantee a free review but for a price they can extridite a review. Seems like a nice site but prices go from $39 to over $200! Thanks for any info you might have.
