Simple Box2d/DFSDK Tutorial
« on: April 14, 2012, 07:31:03 pm »
I've been playing around with using Box2d/DFSDK together recently and since there is really only Tim's tutorial/example it took some playing around with.  In any case, what I created a simple tutorial(well, as simple as I can make it).  I'm kind of over writing it so I didn't check for spelling/grammar typos!

I added it to the wiki available here http://www.dragonfiresdk.net/wiki/index.php?title=Tutorial%3ACreating_a_world,_creating_a_ball_and_then_dropping_it_in_Box2d

Feel free to start making tutorials as well!

Probably worth noting that for newbies wishing to use BOX2D, when starting a new project, right click on the project and select properties.  Then navigate to C/C++ -> General and you should see Dragonfire included in the 'Additional Include Directories'. Click next to it which should open a dialog box and use the browse button to take you to the BOX2D folder which resides within your Dragonfire SDK folder and look for the header file.

When you include #include <Box2D/Box2D.h> it should know where to find it. Hope that helps!

Ah, good idea.  I will probably make a new wiki page for that but have a link for it in the simple tutorial.  That is, of course, unless someone else does it first!

If you want to use Box2D in your DragonFireSDK projects, just make a copy of the included Box2D sample and your project will already be correctly configured.  From there, just hack away at the App.cpp file and make it yours... :)

I only mentioned the above method if you are creating a new project given that I was migrating a previous project which contained a lot of objects and I couldn't copy the box2d project.

Thanks again. This tutorial link is broken - any chance to reinstate it?

We had to do some mass deletes on the wiki site due to an onslaught of spam and vandalism.  If budershank will resend the tutorial to me I will repost it.

Thanks.
