Build Center / Re: How long does a build take?
« on: January 22, 2013, 01:15:27 pm »
Looks like some other people were having problems with the Build Center yesterday also. But it seems to be working now. Your build should only take a few minutes. I assume your naming it something different each time (not sure you can name it "example" again and it will over write old one). Also go to teh Announcements section of the Forum and you will see a message from support about the OTA email.

Build Center / Re: How long does a build take?

The first time you go to the Build Center and you enter your UUID it takes around 24 hours for the Dragonfire guys to get your device provisioned. Once your device has been provisioned your apps will be built in just a few minutes after you have uploaded them. After the upload you will see a message saying your app is being processed on the build center page. Then go to your registered email and you will see a email from support telling you either your build failed or an OTA (over the air) install is available. This is the easiest way to install tour app. In the email there will be a link to click and it will automaticly start installing your app to your device. Hope this helps.

Also remember you must have 2 images for the button. Button1 and Button2, Button1 is for the unpressed image and Button is for the pressed image. They can be the same image if you like but must be named 1 & 2. Also make sure the letter case is correct, if not it will work in the simulator but not on the device.

Game Programming / Re: Recording a score out of documents folder

Go to the main page of this website and click on "Documentation Online" it's right under "Forum". This has a list of all the commands and sample code. It's very helpful.

I think you misunderstood the documents folder thing. You don't include the document folder when you send your app to the build center, but one is created for you when the app is built. So you can use functions that read and write to the document folder. If you look at the api descriptions for FileRead of Filewrite they give you the code you can use to read and save scores in your game. It is very helpful.

Build Center / Re: Some questions about the Build Center
« on: January 17, 2013, 01:59:56 pm »
The build center is where you send you send your C++ app file along with your assets folder and icon image to be compiled into an App you can then download and install on your device. You will find it by going to Dragonfires web page then click on Build Center and log in. There are very good instructions in the faq file found on this web site. You can't send a document folder with your app, one is created when your app is built. Using the build center is free once you log o with your email address and your sdk serial number. There are also instructions on how to publish your app in the faq file, and if you go to Dragonfires web page and click on App Store then on "Publish your app to the app store" There are some more instructions on what you will need to do. Hope this helps

How Do I...? / AlbumSave Problems
« on: January 16, 2013, 08:09:40 pm »
I need some help using the AlbumSave function in a game. I made a button to load a background screen into the game which will be a target screen. The button calls AlbumSave which works the first time I use it. It brings in a file from my photo folder renames it to MyPicture.png and stores it into the document folder. AlbumSave then calls a function that runs ImageSetImage to replace the original background picture with MyPicture.png. The problems start when I try to click the button again to change to a different background. The App crashes. I thought it might be because the file MyPicture.png aleady exists and AlbumSave can't write over it. So I made it so when you click the button again it changes the background back to the default background and then calls FileDelete to delete MyPicture.png so AlbumSave can make a new MyPicture.png. Now when I click the button the second time it changes the background to the default background (I can see that happening) and I assume it deletes MyPicture.png but still crashes when AlbumSave is run again. Will FileDelete(MyPicture.png) work do I have to assign the file to a (char) and use FileDelete((char *)FILE_NAME)? The rest of the game builds and runs fine it even works the first time I use AlbumSave letting me use the first MyPicture.png. It only crashes the second time I try to execute the AlbumSave. Thanks for any ideas you might have.

Not sure if this will help but I noticed in the ButtonAdd api instructions "The filename used with a button should not specify the extension since the internal button code will automatically append 1.png and 2.png to load the images. " I never added the extensions so I don't know what would happen if you did. Just a thought.

Game Programming / Re: Marketing an App

Hey Pipi I have a question for you, I was just looking at the iphone app review site and was wondering if you paid for your review to have it extridited? I'm not sure this is the same site you used They claim to have a 9 month backlog for review and can't even guarantee a free review but for a price they can extridite a review. Seems like a nice site but prices go from $39 to over $200! Thanks for any info you might have.

App Store / Re: Publishing free app...

I was just wondering if you ever got an answer to your question about taking over your app after it was released by Zimusoft? Thanks for any info you might have.

How Do I...? / Re: How to end application?
« on: January 07, 2013, 04:10:59 pm »
I was trying to figure this out awhile back also, wanting my game to end when the home button was pressed and restarting when the icon was pressed. Unfortunately it does not work this way. When you press the home button the game is just suspended in the background. Launching it again with the icon only brings you back to where you were when you pressed the home button. You could reset all your variables with the SuspendInit command which  specifies a function to be called when you are about to enter the background. You would also have to redraw screens and make it look the the beginning of the game when you returned. The AppMain command command does not get run again when you return from the background. One way to do a total restart is to use the multi-finger swipe up (on the ipad) which will show all the tasks in the background then close the app by pressing on it until it wiggles then tap the - (minus) sign on the icon. Now when you go back and tap the icon the program starts from the beginning running AppMain again. Hope this helps.

Build Center / Re: Build centre not working?
« on: December 11, 2012, 12:50:44 pm »
When I made my first project I built it using the sample app Accelerate. When I sent it to the Build center I got the same results your describing (no error.txt file).
I saw somewhere in the Forum a message saying the printf command caused build problems (it's for debugging). After I removed it my build worked.

How Do I...? / Re: Problems restarting game on iPad
« on: December 05, 2012, 03:23:44 pm »
Thanks for the fast reply. I will play with the suspendinit . But what is puzzling me is doesn't the game terminate when I press the home button? Or even turn it off? All I want is for the game to start all over like the first time I ever ran it after install. Instead when I click the icon it starts where it ended. Not the beginning (Start screen).  Is this normal?

Build Center / How long does your build stay in Build Center?

Just wondering how long does a build stay in the Build Center? Do you have to delete it after a download? Thanks for any info.
